Document Certification

Certified copy of a document is basically a copy of the original document which has endorsement over it from the concerned authorities to prove the authentication of the document. The certified copy of any document does not mean that the original document is authentic. Instead, it only states that the copy is an authentic copy of the original document. To get the documents certified, contact us at info@apostille-services.co.uk or call 020 8017 2216.

The certified copy is mainly used in the English Speaking countries to make it easier for their people to get their hands on the duplicate or the replacement of the documents. These copies are usually inexpensive and do not require a person to spend a handsome amount on the acquisition of the document. The certified copies are usually acquired for the official, governmental and lawful purposes around the world to prove the authenticity of the documents. These copies allow the holder of the documents to ensure that he still has the original documents and does not have to give up on their possession in order to prove something to the officials, governments or the law. Email us at info@apostille-services.co.uk for further information.

  • Educational documents (degrees, transcripts and etc.)
  • Marriage Certificates
  • Birth Certificates
  • Death Certificates
  • Letters from a governmental department
  • Utility bills
  • Identity Cards
  • Passports
  • Bank Statements
  • Photo card of driving Licenses.

Authorities Appointed for the Certification of these Documents

The documents can be certified through a person who is appointed by the government for this purpose, a professional person or a person who is well respected in the society and sometimes the services of certification are offered by the banks. Some people who are appointed for the certification may be:

  1. Dentists
  2. Teacher or a lecturer
  3. Notary or solicitor
  4. Councillor of the area
  5. Bank or Society
  6. Minister of religion

Conditions of Getting the Documents Certified

There are certain conditions that a person should keep in mind while getting their documents certified through people. These conditions are:

  • The certifier certifying the copy of documents, should not be related to the holder of the documents
  • The certifier certifying the copy of documents should not be living on the same address as the holder of the document
  • The person certifying the copy of documents should not be in a relationship with the holder of the document.

Process of Certification

When we receive the document(s) to be certified, it is presented to a Solicitor who will draft a new copy of the document and write ‘Certified to be a true copy of the original seen by me’ on the copy of the document.

  1. Signing the document along with mentioning the date on the copy of the document.
  2. Mentioning their full name under the signature on the copy of the document.
  3. Sometimes also mentioning their phone number, address and occupation on the copy of the document.

Certification of the Translation

The certification of the translation of documents that were not in English or Welsh in their originality can only be certified by the translator. The translation company must write on the translated copy of the original document that

  • The translated copy is the ‘true and accurate translation of the original document’
  • The date of translation should be mentioned on the copy of the translation
  • The full name, occupation and contact details of the person or the concerned authority who has translated the original document should be mentioned on the copy of the translation.
